Designing a lab can be a very challenging undertaking that requires specialised knowledge and a lot of thought.
Getting it wrong can lead to problems later in the life of the lab, if for example it's purpose changes, extra facilities need to be introduced, or if its workload increases.
For these reasons many companies and educational facilities make mistakes when designing the initial layout of their laboratory, and to try and help I have created this site with an emphasis on the practical considerations that you need to consider.
Of course there are many factors to think about, and so I will add more detailed information, including aspects that are more relevant to different applications, if for example your lab is a school or university lab, an industrial or commercial lab, etc, over time.
There are also some very cutting edge projects underway right now that I will provide detailed information on in due course, permission pending from the institutions involved.
